With so many scams around in online shopping, it can become hard for customers to know where to shop. Thus, when Skylarks.shop was among the most searched sites on ScamAdviser, I was compelled to look into the website.
On the “About Us” page, they claim that the shop “was created for the sole purpose of bringing together new and exclusive products. We endeavor to be constantly engaged, maintaining close ties to designers and trend setters”
Interestingly, the same information appears on many other dubious websites such as BELLEZZAJEWL and Veldova. This suggests that Skylarks may be part of a larger network of scam websites that re-use the same content over and over.
On top of that, I also noticed that they claim that they are owned by Fadel-Beatty Limited which is based in Ireland. On paper, this sounds good as there is seemingly a legitimate company behind the website. However, when you take a closer look, cracks begin to show. Fadel-Beatty Limited is claimed by many scam websites and appears to be a shell company that is used to dupe customers into thinking the stores are registered.
We have written in the past about Fadel-Beatty Limited being used by dubious sites such as Felizos.com.
I noticed that Skylarks is using a paid service to mask its domain registration details. With that, it was hard to tell when the site was registered and the registrant's details. Even with that, I still found one review about the site on ScamAdviser with the customer casting doubts about the legitimacy of the site. The customer highlights the cheaper prices as a huge telltale sign that Skylark is a scam. I could not find any other reviews about the store on other trusted sites like Trustpilot or Sitejabber.
In the review above, the customer notes that they never got a reply after emailing the company. With that, I decided to take a look at the Skylarks.shop email address. On the contact us page, they have listed “service@globalcontact.shop” as their email address.
Notice anything out of the ordinary? Well, for the hawkeyed, you may have seen the email is using a different domain in globalcontact.shop which is not the same as Skylarks.shop. This makes it harder for customers to get in touch. It's one of the most obvious signs to doubt the legitimacy of a website.
Overall, we have doubts about the legitimacy of Skylarks.shop. There are too many red flags and obvious signs that make us question whether it's a legit shop. The email listed is different from the website and a customer has complained that they never got a reply.
Skylarks.shop claims to be owned by a company in Ireland but they have a dubious record and have been claimed by many scam websites. The customer review is quite negative and though it's only one, it paints a glum picture of what to expect from the shop.
In general, caution should be exercised when shopping at Skylarks.shop. There are many other legit online marketplaces where you can shop including reputable fashion shopping sites.
